Indian WeddingYou don’t have to be a wordsmith to write greeting cards. You don’t need rhyming words or verses to make the greeting message impressive. It’s so much easier than you think.

All you need is a pen, paper and 20 minutes. And yes, a little help from us. If you have those, you are ready to write an impressive greeting message.

Want to know how?

Follow this simple guide.

The Greeting

A wedding greeting is for both bride and groom. So, you should open the message by greeting both. You might know only one of them, but address both in your greeting.

A ‘hi’, ‘hey’ or ‘dear’ is always the fashion. If the friend is very close to you, use ‘Dear bride & groom or keep it really simple with a ‘Hi bride & groom!’ or ‘Hey bride & groom!’ You can also address the couple together, if you want to. Like ‘Love Birds’ or ‘Newlyweds’. However, just because it is easy to start writing the opening message, does not mean it is not important. It deserves to be crafted with due importance.

The Body

As always, this is where you have to let your emotions and words flow. Fill the message not with words, but with emotions. Is this where you struggle a bit? Don’t worry, once you are done reading this article, you will be saying, ‘Oh! That was simple!’

So, here is a list of things you can write on your message to your friend who is getting married.

Personalized Message

A personalized message is always the best option when writing wedding greeting messages. Get your own words down on the greeting card and make it sound personal. But, how personal? It depends on how well you know the friend getting married. Do you know both of them personally or only one of them? Are you intimately close with one of them? Or are you not that close to this friend of yours’? Here are some messages, which you can use as an inspiration to write your own greeting message.

“My heartiest congratulations to a beautiful couple. Wishing you both a wonderful journey ahead as you make your bond stronger than ever.”

Personalized Wedding Greeting

“Wishing you the best marriage! May both of you find the happiness and pleasure being legally and sacredly bind with each other. Congratulations!”

Funny Message

A hint of humour in your greeting message won’t hurt! Your message doesn’t always have to be the serious kind, after all, your friendship is not always serious!

You can also write something that reminds your friend about the good times you two had, but be discrete. You know what I mean! Here are some funny marriage greeting messages you can write on the greeting card.

“In olden times, sacrifices were made at the altar, a practice that still continues.”

Did you know Sequoia trees live 1,300 years. If your marriage ever gets old, just be glad people don’t live as long as Sequoias.”

Greeting with Quotes

I understand, not always you are able to come up with words and sentences of your own. Even the famous Ernest Hemingway and J.K. Rowling had their moments with writer’s block! So, what are you going to do about this?

The simplest thing you can do is to find some interesting quotes about marriage from the internet and just jot it down on the greeting card. Don’t worry, it is not that tacky. Here are some examples.

Deciding to leave a happy and free life without any lifetime commitment is just the first sacrifice of a person who will get marry.

Be prepared for more that will come. “

Wedding Greeting with Quotes

We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it marriage.”

Ending the Message

‘Congratulations!’, ‘Happy Married Life!’: the two most common ending lines for a wedding greeting! I suggest you stick with these traditional lines to end the message. But, you can come up with something of your own to make it sound a bit more personal, it will be even better. Something simple like ‘Wishing you love, luck and happiness that lasts for a life time!’ could do it.

So here is how it will turn out if I was the one writing the wedding greeting message.

Final Wedding Greeting

“Hey name,

“Did you know Sequoia trees live 1,300 years. If your marriage ever gets old, just be glad people don’t live as long as Sequoias.”

Wishing you love, luck and happiness that lasts for a lifetime!

My name and  Family”

See? I told you it would be nothing but easy! Now that you know what to write as the greeting message, grab a pen and start writing. Don’t forget to let us know how it panned out!
